Jay-Z: 1 v. Noel Gallagher: Nil

13 05 2008

Now, I aint one to give credit to Jay for too much he does on the mic these days, but I’ve long since respected him as a businessman and the style icon he’s become, although this picture doesn’t necessarily reflect the better days he’s had style-wise (The shirt is too big as evidenced by the relatively huge gap between his neck and the shirt collar, the pin point collar makes the shirt look cheap and where’s the cuffs of the shirt? Either the sleeves of the blazer need to be shortened or the shirt sleeves aren’t long enough. Be it barrel, french or convertible cuff, some sleeve needs to be seen…but I digress). Jay-Z recently spoke out in response to the nonsense from one Noel Gallagher of Oasis.

Upon Jay-Z being named as the first rapper to headline next month’s Glastonbury Festival, Gallagher blamed Jay-Z for the slow ticket sales and that it was “wrong” to have a hip hop act headlining the show. Jay-Z, diplomatically responded to the bloke Gallagher recently, noting that, “…hip-hop has put in its work like any other form of music…We just have to respect each other’s genre of music and move forward.”

Breaking the tie was Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis who chimed in, essentially telling Gallagher to shove off.

Props to sun for holdin’ it down for the culture. Thankfully he spoke his response instead of rappin’. They might’ve cancelled the whole festival if they heard how awfully inconsistent and pedestrian his flow has been since The Blueprint 2.

Let’s just hope his visit to the UK doesn’t end up causin’ him the same legal troubles as it has for Snoop Dogg.
