Still...........MVP

Did you know, Kobe Bryant is on pace to duplicate a feat accomplished only once before in the history of Basketball? If the Lakers win the NBA championship, which I would have to believed they’ve have to be favored to do seeing as how Boston struggled to be the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers and are still battling the Detroit Pistons, Kobe would be the most likely recipient of the Finals MVP. Add that to the US Olympic team, of which Kobe is a member, quest for the summer gold in Beijing, Bryant is looking to add to his legend by reaching a plateau to which only Michael Jordan has reached before. That of a regular season MVP, Finals MVP and Olympic gold medalist. Jordan did all 3 in 1992 capturing his second consecutive regular season MVP, captured the Finals MVP in a 4-1 series win over the Portland Trailblazers and then leading the Dream Team to the Gold medal in the Barcelona Olympic Games.

The Best in the Game: MVP Kobe Bryant Turns Back Spurs Upset Bid in Game 1

22 05 2008

If you didn’t see Kobe’s performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, then you missed why Kobe was named this past season’s MVP and why the Lakers are en route to another championship. After languishing through 3 quarters of basketball where they seemed lifeless, perhaps due, in part, to their 4 day layoff, and down 20 points, the Lakers rallied back to take a 89-85 win.

Forget everything else though, after only scoring 2 points and not attempting a single free throw in the first half, Kobe scored 25 2nd half points, on 10-17 shooting including the game winning basket with 23 seconds remaining in the game. The Lakers as a team defended well, closed out on the Spurs 3pt shooters and Manu Ginobili had a horrific night. A true off night for the Argentinian star. One final note from last night’s game, Sasha Vujacic, I like dude’s game. Real feisty, hard nosed player. Something many European imports to the NBA aren’t quite lauded for.

MUSIC: Kobe Bryant Gangster Rapper?

4 05 2008

Newly crowned NBA MVP Kobe Bryant is without a doubt one of the most popular and most hated players of this generation, he is also one of the funniest. Some may remember an NBA Allstar Weekend when Kobe hit the stage with Ahmad Rashad and Tyra Banks(odd to say the least) to try his hand at performing as a rapper. Needless to say it was complete trash, all the way to the pathetic verse in Italian. Wit a little internet crate digging we’ve found some unreleased audio of NBA golden boy. Oh but its not what you think. The following excerpt is from a track entitled Philly Live. Features fellow Philadelphia artists Beanie Sigel and The Roots’ Black Thought. Shoot ’em up & BANG BANG! after the commute.
